Janet and Cassie met through a mutual friend and soon realised that they had a shared belief in the power of drama and storytelling in unlocking children’s imagination and creativity. They decided to join forces to create Story Craft Theatre in 2018. It has given them both the opportunity to do what they love the most; work with children, telling stories and getting creative…while having a lot of fun doing so!
Cassie trained at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire (formally known as the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama) where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Acting in 2003. Originally from Hampshire she moved back down to London soon after and started working in Theatre and TV as well as learning and development. A particular favourite of the shows she has been part of is the classic Stickman live on stage, which she toured both nationally and internationally with Scamp Theatre.
Since moving to York in 2015 and becoming a mum to 2 gorgeous boys, she has appeared on TV including Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street.
Janet graduated from East 15 Acting School in 2006 and began working with theatre education company Box Clever, this is where her love for children’s theatre began. She then went on to perform Sweeney Todd in the West End and numerous family shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
During the 2012 Olympics, Janet was involved in the devising and managing of interactive entertainment throughout the Olympic Park. Then in 2015 managed ‘Flash Mobs’ in Birmingham and Cardiff for the Rugby World Cup.
On weekends and school holidays for several years Janet was Professor Nitrate, performing family science show at the Royal Gunpowder Mills. She was also involved in the remembrance performances at Westminster Abbey.
Janet moved to York in 2016 for a change from her busy London life and became a mum.
